Hakomi Mindfulness Based Assisted Self Discovery
The Hakomi Session is somewhere you will be welcome just as you are. You will be received warmly and with genuine appreciation. It is a shared space of safety and connection.

What is Hakomi?
Hakomi is body-centred, mindfulness-based assisted self-discovery. Developing mindful awareness enables you to study what is happening in your present experience.
What happens in a Hakomi Session?
In sharing this process with you, I am interested in your non-verbal communication and physical behaviours, as well as in what you say to me. Things like tone of voice, movements, gestures, posture and facial expression are often significant indicators of beliefs and unconscious material.
Beliefs and attitudes formed early in life can be contacted through the body and gradually transformed. Through noticing and working with unconscious, physical communication, the suffering associated with difficult life events can be reduced.
When we connect on this subtle, sensitive and compassionate level, we can transform self-limiting beliefs and unhelpful habits. This opens us to new possibilities and greater freedom.
The Ethos of Hakomi
We will be sharing your journey towards greater self-knowledge and understanding. Part of our collaboration will be to recognise and attend to your resources and qualities. I will have an awareness of your inspirational characteristics and will draw your attention to strengths which may remain outside your awareness or personal qualities you may overlook.
You can find out more about the method and its founder, Ron Kurtz at Hakomi Education.
In September 2021, I attended a weekend introductory retreat dedicated to Wild Therapy. Borrowing from the principles of Wild Therapy, I can offer sessions out of doors in nature, by request. The natural world can be an inspiration and support to your self-study and exploration. It may be possible to visit local parkland, woodland or other natural environments for a broader context for your inner work. The therapy room is not the only container for self-examination. The wider world can be a vital and enlivening part of the process
An elegant, non-intrusive, yet transformative way of understanding our lives and experience.
Appointments are available face to face or via Zoom if preferred, or if you are outside Winterton, North Lincolnshire.

“Caroline is a highly skilled and intuitive Hakomi practitioner. I feel attended to and completely safe in her hands. Caroline’s capacity for deeply listening, imaginatively responding and her playfulness have helped me connect with some of the unhelpful parts of myself that have held me back, and to approach them with acceptance and kindness. This has been transformative. I would highly recommend Caroline to anyone who is considering Hakomi as a therapy.”
